Daniel Sajko
Daniel is originally from Newport, Pembrokeshire, but now lives in Old Colwyn and is a Music teacher at Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno. Daniel joined Hogie’r Berfeddwlad in 2014 after seeing them sing in a concert in Llandudno. He graduated from Bangor University in 2011 where he studied Music and concentrated on Welsh folk music. Daniel is also a talented trombonist and enjoys performing in Welsh National Youth Ensembles and various shows. He was a keen member of Goodwick Brass Band for over ten years. Daniel has a diploma in piano from London College of Music and he enjoys conducting, accompanying, and arranging music for Hogie’r Berfeddwlad.

Catherine Watkin
Catherine Watkin was raised in Rhyd-y-main, Gwynedd and went to Ysgol Gynradd Bryncoedifor, Dr Williams’ School, Dolgellau and on to the University of Wales, Cardiff where she graduated in Music. Catherine’s contribution to and influence on Welsh music is evident and she’s gained recognition many times for her work, including being awarded the Sir T. H. Parry-Williams Medal. Catherine established Hogie’r Berfeddwlad as a party twenty years ago and her enthusiasm is as infectious as ever. Her relationship with members, old and new, is a special one. The party benefits from her musical talent and expertise across various genres, especially Welsh folk music and ‘cerdd dant’, through which Catherine developed the party’s notably rich sound. In turn, she enjoys their lively, endeared company. They understand each other very well and are a strong partnership. This CD will be an appropriate record of many fond years working together.
