A must for all rugby fans! Anthems, hymns and folk-songs for the ideal rugby sing-song. Includes the words of 'Sosban Fach', 'Fields of Athenry', 'Scotland the Brave' and much more.
This little pocket book of songs is just the thing to take to any one of the international rugby matches or to sing along with others in the pub. All the words are there – Welsh on the left-hand page and, where appropriate, English on the right. How many of us know all the words of ‘Myfanwy’ and all the verses of ‘Abide with me’? Well, they are all here and when the Welsh words are translated to English, it is done in such a way that they fit the music.
There are eleven songs for Welsh supporters including ‘Sosban Fach’, ‘Calon Lân’, ‘Hymns and Arias’ and ‘Deliah’, plus, of course, ‘Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’. From England there are five songs including ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ as well as ‘God Save the Queen’. Ireland also has six songs, ‘Molly Malone’ and ‘Danny Boy’ among them. For Scotland there are three: ‘The Flower of Scotland’, ‘Loch Lomond’ and ‘Scotland the Brave’. France has ‘La Marseillaise’ and ‘Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien’ and Italy just one, ‘Inno di Mameli.’
Although not part of the Six Nations, our adversaries from across the world are not left out. For New Zealand, ‘The Haka’ is included and ‘God Defend New Zealand’ and for Australia, ‘Advance Australia Fair’ and ‘Walzing Matilda’ and finally, South Africa’s ‘God Bless Africa’ in all the main languages of that country and in English.
Rugby fans need never be stuck for words when the crowds warm up for the great matches again.
