Oswestry Welsh Shop raises over £600 for Severn Hospice.

Siop Cwlwm, a family-run Welsh shop, have donated an amazing sum of £616 to Severn Hospice.  This money was raised by selling 2023 Severn Hospice bilingual Christmas cards in their retail shop, 33 Bailey Street, Oswestry, and worldwide via their online shop www.siopcwlwm.co.uk

Lowri Roberts of Siop Cwlwm presents a cheque to Carla Siswick, Head of Retail at Severn Hospice

For almost a decade Siop Cwlwm have sold Severn Hospice Christmas Cards. In that time, by donating all income from these sales, they have raised thousands of pounds to support the vital work of the Severn Hospice.

Lowri Roberts, owner at Siop Cwlwm, said “We are delighted to have raised so much money for Severn Hospice, a charity which is very close to our hearts.  As a family, we can never thank them enough for the care given to my late father, Hywel.”

“We are very grateful to our customers, locally and world-wide, for enabling us to support Severn Hospice by buying their bilingual Christmas cards.”

Severn Hospice Head of Retail Carla Siswick said: “Lowri and her family are such fantastic supporters of the hospice, and we are so grateful for all they’ve done for us over many years. We rely so much on community support like this, and they are a fabulous example of that spirit in action. Thank you Lowri and all your customers.”

The specialist care provided by Severn Hospice is free of charge to families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. However, for every £3 the hospice spends, £2 is dependent on fund raising.

Siop Cwlwm is a family-run Welsh shop which was established in 2010 by mother and daughter team Linda and Lowri Roberts. Initially based in Oswestry Indoor Market, in 2022 the business expanded to 33 Bailey Street, Oswestry.  Selling a wide range of Welsh books, cards, gifts, and music, both with their retail shop and via www.siopcwlwm.co.uk they are one of the leading Welsh shops, and probably the only one outside Wales. Their established presence in Oswestry, reflects the unique bilingual nature of this border town.
