Description

Having dominated Welsh politics since the start of the twentieth century, the Welsh Labour Party is one of the most successful political parties in any country, and it has an absolutely crucial part in the history of Wales over the past century and a half. Wales itself has a vital role in the history of the Labour Party, being the site of the party's very first electoral victories, and being the oldest and firmest of its strongholds.

Despite this, before now there has never been an attempt to trace and chronicle the history of the Labour Party in Wales in the Welsh Language, from its predecessors such as Christian Socialists like Robert Owen through to its first electoral victories at the start of the twentieth century, and its periods of success and failure during the second half of the twentieth century. This volume pays due attention to key Welsh figures in the party and to those questions which were of particular interest to them such as devolution and the Welsh Language.

D. Ben Rees has been active with the Labour Party since the 1950s and has previously published biographies in Welsh of a number of individuals with prominent in this volume, such as Cledwyn Hughes and Jim Griffiths.
