Clever, 16 year old Will Owen, with a troubled childhood and promising career as a scientist, accepts a dangerous dare from a gang leader and commits a serious crime. He is punished and banished and his career prospects are shattered as he works on a farm with fear of revenge from the gang. His wishes to be a scientist are rekindled but the odds are against him. Can he overcome them?
